It was pouring cats and dogs just like it did every year on a school reopening day! It seemed like they had all got into a time machine and nothing had changed. Braving the knee deep waters and the heavy rains, they had gathered to the place they loved and cherished more than anything else in the whole world. The ecstatic screaming, reaching out to each other, tight hugging and loads of laughter - a ritual to mark the beginning of every school year was not skipped. But this year was different, the little school girls were now beautiful grown up women of the world. And they were back to their alma mater - St. Paul's Convent Girls High School for a very warm, mesmerising, emotional and cosy reunion!
There is this wonderful quality about school friends - no matter how many years later you bump into each other, the love and magic remains the same. I just realized how easily I could confide in all of them, how caring and loving they all are. The excitement, the bonding, the madness it was all there for everyone to see. Since the school was closed for the summer vacations, we had to shift to the coffee shop right opposite it. And boy, did we cause a riot there or what! We could not contain ourselves and what ensued was chaos good enough to trigger the creation of another universe (no exaggeration whatsoever!). While at school, we were always reprimanded for being the noisiest batch ever and we left no stone unturned to ensure that we can never be robbed of our title. The incessant chatter got so loud that we were yelled at by at least 2-3 people. One lady in particular tried to hush us three times before giving up and getting out of the coffee shop. In a different situation it may be easier to control ourselves but there was so much to know about each other all these years, so much to catch up on. All of us were talking at once and all of us were listening at the same time.
As we watched the rains pouring outside, sipped on some hot cuppas, relished some gooey brownies and spicy sandwiches, old memories, old habits, teachers, incidents that we thought we had long forgotten became very fresh. It was like letting out precious moments that were cherished in the deepest corners of your heart and reliving them. We had all moved on, become accomplished professionals and homemakers but the little girl inside us had not vanished. She appeared out of oblivion at the mere sight of her beloved school and took pride and joy in living her life again.
When it was time to say goodbye, the little girl disappeared again and it was time to return to the grown up world, this time with a promise of meeting again and as often as the world would allow us to.
Just remembered this very special Billy Joel number for all my dahlings:
She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child,
But she's always a woman to me

Chasing Eternity
What if it would have been a bit different,
the present as we know it today?
And things would have turned out,
exactly as we hoped them to be one day?
The ones we miss so dearly,
would have never gone away?
The places we were so fond of,
would never seem so far away?
I sit by the sea and listen to the waves,
I try to hold the sand in my hands
I try to get the Sun to come back
Countless loves, countless passions
countless joys, countless trials
Countless smiles, countless tears
Countless memories, countless moments
And yet I look back and find myself lost
Chained by the ghosts of past
And yet I look ahead and find myself free
For I know,
each moment lived becomes eternity

First post
A lot of bitter-sweet incidents make you the person that you are. Many a times you wish you could relive certain moments again and again. Beautiful moments of love that give you a feeling of being loved, adored, and cared for immediately. Some proud moments that lighten up your face with memories of accomplishments and accolades. Then there are those times which make you feel like a loser. The very thoughts of those events can make you go through a range of emotions; ranging from ire, jealousy, helplessness, or deep anxiety that you never really overcame. But the most unforgettable and tragic moments that always keep you haunting are almost always the ones where you’ve lost a loved one. A breakup or a fight will always be remembered with great difficulty. But the pain and suffering of death can never be erased. Maybe, you learn to live with it but you never stop missing your dear ones.
I have always wanted to write down some incidents that have affected me greatly. I start this blog today to relive the best times I’ve had and will have in the near future. The agony and pain would be penned to see if I have a different perspective on them later. It happens to all of us right, a lot of stuff we’ve cried and been heart broken eventually makes us look like such fools. “I don’t believe I was such a dork to cry over that silly guy!” You know, things like that. :)
